Objective
The objective of contingency is world domination. You must control territiories while ensuring your opponents do not. Victory conditions are set by the host of the game, but the objective is always to control the most territories. You will be playing against other critters, some of which are controlled by the computer.
Territories
Territories are areas on the map controlled by a single player. Numbers associated with territories represent how many armies are available for the territory. Any occupied territories gain 2 armies per turn. Neutral territories do not benefit from army production.
Orders
Setting orders and changing them when neccessary is the key component to world domination in contingency. Orders can be set only on a territory you control. You can set oders by using the buttons in the territory panel, or by clicking the 3D map.
There are only 3 types of orders that a territory can make.
Assist |
A dotted green arrow means the option to order an assist is available. A solid green arrow means the order is set. Transparent green arrows are you and your opponents currently active assist orders.
To set an assist order on the 3d map click a territory you would like to set an order on. Then click a green arrowhead in any adjacent territory. To set an assist order in the territory panel, click any assist button associated with another territory.
Attack |
A dotted red arrow means the option to order an assist is available. A solid red arrow means the order is set. Transparent red arrows are you and your opponents currently active attack orders.

Defend |
No Solid arrows means the territory is currently defending.
To set a defend order on the 3d map click a territory you would like to set an order on. Then double click the territory. To set a defend order in the territory panel, click the defend button associated with the territory.
Special Orders
You may set special orders on any territory if you have BattleCredits. BattleCredits are available from your account page or from the Add BattleCredits button in the game.
Defensive special orders may be set on your territories by clicking a territory you control and selecting a special order from the menu. Offensive special orders are set by clicking on another player's territory and selecting a special order from the menu.
